Great homes needed for Sugar Gliders! We recently took in eleven owner surrendered Sugar Gliders. Typically we network with a rescue, but their facility is currently full. We did not want to see these precious lives euthanized, and knew we could help. We want these critters to have loving forever homes with passionate human caretakers! Sugar Gliders are not Pets for everyone! They can be messy, have special dietary needs, special housing needs, are noisy at night, and can bite if not handled regularly. For those with the understanding of Sugar Gliders, they can be wonderful Pets and companions! Please consider saving a life by adopting an animal before you make a Pet Store purchase! Sugar Gliders must be adopted in same sex pairs! If you are interested in adopting, or have specific questions, please contact the Zoo directly for an adoption application. Thank you!

A new year means new intakes, and this year is off to a busy start! As many of you are aware we are experiencing the deepest freeze in recent history. Ponds have completely iced over and dumped Domestic Ducks and Geese are suffering! Domestic Ducks and Geese can NOT fly, nor do they have the ability to survive in weather such as this. A lack of food, exposure to elements, and frozen pond surfaces all spell out a cruel death for the animal. Please contact us if you come across any Domestic Waterfowl in need. Do not attempt to retrieve a Duck or Goose from a frozen pond yourself! Special thanks to the folks who have already contacted us, your efforts have saved four precious lives!

Stowaway! Each year thousands of stowaway Lizards are unintentionally transported across the globe in cars, luggage, and plants. This (teeny) tiny Gecko was found in a family's luggage after returning from vacation in Jamaica. Worried about the Lizard's ultimate fate, and unsure what to do for it; a call was placed to Delaware Animal Control who referred us. Cold, scared, thirsty, and hungry upon intake; this little Gecko would not have survived long without human intervention. He is safe now, and will reside within the comforts of the Zoo for everyone to enjoy. Special thanks to the family for helping this tiny Gecko!
