One of the ways I try to orientate myself in a new city is to find somewhere I can get a bird's eye view soon after I arrive. In some cities like Auckland it's the top of an old volcano but in Osaka where the city goes on seemingly forever in all directions, it would have to be the unique Umeda Sky Building. What are your top city orientation points around the world? #Japan #Osaka #Travel

From Nijo Castles and the Imperial Palace to the Geisha districts of Pontocho and Gion. A pig guarded shrine, a temple that's home to Japans ancient art of ikebana and a 400-year-old foodie market - you can do it all on this full day self-guided walking tour of central Kyoto. #Kyoto #Japan #Travel

Cockatoo Island is a different experience out of Sydney city. Take the ferry past the famous landmarks of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Darling harbour and spend a few hours exploring this island with a very unusual history. http://www.2aussietravellers.com/cockatoo-island/ #Sydney #Australia

We highly recommend a day in Kobe while you're in Japan, especially if you can manage to be there for the Chinese New Year celebrations. Kobe has one of the 3 best Chinatown precincts in Japan. http://www.2aussietravellers.com/do-in-kobe/ #Japan #Kobe #CNY

It's fabulous to see koala in the wild but depending on how much time you have and where you are based it's not always possible. In Brisbane the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a favourite spot to see these cute little marsupials. http://www.2aussietravellers.com/10-reasons-visit-lone-pine-koala-sanctuary/

Looking sweet and innocent now but the deer on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima (Japan) have a mischievous spirit and a taste for stolen ice-creams and unsupervised handbags
