one-to-one online help in real time
one-to-one online help in real time

About's posts

+Eileen O'Duffy set up and developed, an educational website providing one-to-one online help in real time for second and third level students. Despite overwhelmingly positive feedback and support for the concept from teachers, parents and the wider business and education community, it was extremely difficult to match the supply of tutors and the demand for tutorials in real time on a global scale and the website was terminated in September 2013
Google Helpouts (currently beta testing) are now offering a similar type service.

"MOOCs can become another generally benign way that universities can extend their influence and general visibility while realizing some of the benefits of university education for those who might not otherwise receive it.”

"And there is a historical irony about all this, too. Perhaps elite universities will end up going back to the future. Until recently, at elite English universities like Oxford and Cambridge, lectures were always optional. They were often thought to be incidental to an education based around the tutorial and self-directed reading.”

How do you prepare learners to cope with and indeed even exploit volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA)?    #Education  #OnlineLearning

Students need to develop the key knowledge management skills of knowing where to find relevant information, how to assess, evaluate and appropriately apply such information. This means exposing them to less than certain knowledge and providing them with the skills, practice and feedback to assess and evaluate such knowledge then apply that to solving real world problems.

How learning has moved from 1.0 to 2.0   #Education #Elearning
(h/t  +Anne Hole  )

One of the best theories to describe how learning is organised in Web 2.0 environments is social constructivism, because learners increasingly rely on social interaction, and appropriate tools to mediate dialogue.
