“The fact of the matter is that we are putting heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere faster than the Earth was able to do by itself for 66 million years,” he said. “So it just continues to really highlight the unique role that humans are playing in the climate system now.”
Ocean temperatures today are about the same as they were more than 100,000 years ago — at a time when sea levels were 20 to 30 feet higher.

Once the crack is complete, a giant iceberg larger than Rhode Island will break or "calve" off of Antarctica. The iceberg would be one of the biggest on record.
A crack in an ice shelf in Antarctica now measures more than 100 miles long.

Featured Act: "The Ponderosa Peace Jam group spent several weeks making fleece tie blankets for homeless women and children. Once we finished, we had around 30 blankets. We delivered these blankets to The Gathering Place, a daytime shelter for women and children."

This is interesting, an EU committee is drafting a bill to give Human Rights to Robots.
Every liberal, Progressive agenda — homosexual marriage, abortion, anti-bullying edicts, the marginalization of Judeo-Christian beliefs, etc. — has a societal price: We count the costs and ask whether the changes are worth the price.

“What’s going on in the Arctic is really very impressive; this year was ridiculously off the chart,” said Gavin A. Schmidt, head of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, a unit of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration that tracks global temperatures.
Surface temperatures are heading toward levels that many scientists believe will pose a threat to both the natural world and to human civilization.

Everyday People Performing Thoughtful Actions that Contribute to World Peace.
Introduction

The PeaceJam Foundation’s 1 Billion Acts of Peace began with a simple message: “Everyone matters. Everyone can make a difference. And together, we are unstoppable.”

This year’s Hero Awards will recognize outstanding service in five categories including Best Youth Act, Best Non-Profit Act, Best Business Act, Best University Act and Best Up and Coming Peacemaker.

1 Billion Acts of Peace Hero Awards is a rare event in today’s world, as Nobel Peace Price Winner Rigoberta Menchú commented during her recent visit to the Google campus,  “1 Billion Acts of Peace shows everyone, young or old, that they have the power to make a difference.” By bringing together Nobel Prize winners such as His Holiness The Dali Lama and Desmond Tutu, industry leaders such as Google and everyday people we are creating a generation of heroes.”

The Hero Awards recognizes the importance of action. It can be a huge effort worthy of a Nobel award or a young child’s earliest efforts to help a neighbor. One Billion Acts of Peace acknowledges human dignity at all levels, because even the most basic efforts can have huge consequences. Menchú puts it this way “In difficult times, it is easy to forget that we all can enact change, no matter how powerless we may feel. Addressing injustice, inequality, the environment – it all starts with everyone believing in their power to change the world.”
