This week, our Sous Chef, Michael Maurer announced that he would be leaving 1844 House to pursue an opportunity as a personal chef in the Albany area. His final day cooking in our kitchen will be next Saturday August 9th.

Mike has been with us for nearly 7 years, starting his employment with us as a teenager in October of 2007. It has been my honor and pleasure to have him as my apprentice and to mentor him during this period of his career development. He is a very talented young Chef and a great guy. He will be missed. Jenny & I are very excited for Mike as he leaves his home town and his “second family” here at 1844 House. He will leave to explore a completely different aspect of hospitality and the culinary arts. It is always bittersweet to have a treasured member of our team leave us. We are proud to see them grow and blossom, but we also feel the heartbreak of their absence.

We have the privilege of having the finest hospitality staff in the North Country. Mike helped lead our culinary team with his creativity, hard work, professionalism, and passion. These characteristics are the reason an 1844 House experience so unique.

Good luck Mike; and thank you for all you’ve done to make 1844 House special for so many of our guests.

Cheers!
