The hebrew neck tie . Great sneaky finish from spider web control. Opponents are so worried about their arms they never see is coming.

10th Planet West LA is an all-level Jiu-Jitsu academy instructed by first degree Black beltScott "Einstein" Epstein —a professional mixed martial artist with an undefeated record. Epstein obtained his black belt from Eddie Bravo and arguably knows the 10th Planet System better than anybody excluding Bravo himself. He was recruited by Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell to coach the fighters on Team Liddell on The Ultimate Fighter season 11. He also continues to serve as the former UFC champion's Jiu-Jitsu coach along with other pro fighters. 10th Planet jiu-jitsu West LA is your Los Angeles source for instruction and information on the 10th Planet jiu jitsu System. Scott also has over 20 years experience as a fitness professional and use that knowledge to get his students in the best shape of their lives.

"Scott Epstein has the knowledge and he cares more than most. When it comes to individual training, Einstein is one of the best teachers I have ever seen." -Eddie Bravo

"He's really detail oriented. I think a lot of great submission guys don't know how to teach as well as he does. Scott breaks it down very well for people." -Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell

Scott is one of the best Jiu Jitsu teachers I've ever met. The way he conveys information makes it really easy and fun to learn. He also truly cares about all of his students and their growth. He's created an amazing community at 10th Planet West LA.

I chose 10th Planet West Side over the other Jiu Jitsu gyms in my area because two things. Firstly, the people that go to this gym are humble, friendly, and very helpful. I have not seen anyone lose their temper or get mad at any other student. The other reason is because of the teaching. Scott (Einstein) Epstein is our head instructor. He is one of Eddie Bravo’s most technical black belts. He goes over the same technique for weeks at a time so new students have a chance to really get the hang of it. There are two other teachers, Michael (Tips) Venturella is our newest brown belt. His style of teaching is similar to Scott’s. They are both very technical. Lastly, Johnny Ho is one of our purple belts. He has been teaching the Saturday 3:00pm class. Once again, very technical and he definitely knows how to use his weight.

Been at West LA for over a year and Scott is an honest coach. It's rare find and it shows that his students appreciate his methods of teaching.

Joined this gym unsure of what to expect. I was more than happy with what was found. This gym offers a clean facility with ample space for your gym bags and showers. Another plus is free packing in the lot, garage, or on the street. Best of all is the top level instruction and attention to detail by instructor, Scott Epstein. You will not be disappointed! For any women who may be hesistant, we have a strong group of female teammates of different levels who can help. You have nothing to lose be everything to gain.

As a total beginner, I was a bit intimidated when i first walked into 10th planet west la, it only took one class and i was hooked!! I always wanted to try BJJ and always had an excused not to do it Now that im doing it I've realized that. 1 its alot of work but 2 its something i'm enjoying learning. The gym also offers striking and wrestling classes which are a bonus. Scott,Michael,Johnny and Niko are amazing coaches/teachers and are 100% dedicated to your learning. The Gym has a team attitude so everyone is there to learn, get better n most important help you get better. The gym is clean and has plenty of parking. (Free parking!!) If you are a begginer like me i woulld 100% recommend you give us a try. Come learn, get in shape, have a few laughs. At the very least you will make new friends

These bullies will take advantage of you and try to injure on purpose if you don't know anything. Better for beginners to start out elsewhere, as this is a VERY rough crowd.
Response from the owner - 3 months ago
Peter Mitchell's never been to our gym. We have no records of the name, so if you are not a fake profile we would be glad to address whatever you misunderstood. Also beginners are not allowed to spar for the first month so it is impossible for a beginner to be treated the way you claimed . You must have us mistaken for another gym.

Let's see.. I began my jiu jitsu journey here, it was the closest one to my house. I had a great experience from the beginning, but I thought: "what do I know? I have to try a few other places to get a feel for what I like in a school." So I moved on to a few other schools, and after several months realized that the techniques remembered best were the ones I learned with Scott at 10th planet west la. So very recently I returned and resumed training there intermittently as an add-on to my regular training. If you are looking into training jiu jitsu in LA, lucky you, the city you live in is jiu jitsu mecca and there are many options - but do yourself a favor and put 10th planet west LA at or near the top of your list. I heard the internet likes bullet points, here are some bullet points: pros - detailed training, lots of repetition so things get committed to muscle memory - classes are long enough that there's plenty of time for drilling and sparring. (Almost all other schools have 1 hour for both which ends up in a situation where you rush through drilling and rush through sparring.) - great community, great atmosphere, great variety of training partners - I've only been here a short time but it is pretty clear to me that Scott is invested in his students' development - clean gym, plenty of parking cons - none? - there is a little dog that hangs out on the couch by the mats and snores like a large human
