This review for A SEASON IN HELL perfectly sums up why I'm so excited about this upcoming release:

"Rarely does a book actually break me. There are a lot of books that make me stop and go, "Oh my God, what did I just read"; but not many that just make me feel broken. A deep down, soulful, broken. A SEASON IN HELL is just such a book. Kenneth W. Cain takes some very relevant, socially unacceptable, but all too common, trains of thought head on - racism, sexism, and bullying - with horrifying, and painful, results. However, don't let that scare you. Deep down, it's a story of redemption and standing up for what is right - regardless of the consequences." John J Questore

A SEASON IN HELL will be out early September on Kindle (with a 99c pre-order price).

Another flattering review for today's new anthology release:

"Deserving to be on the shelf of any discerning horror fan, Welcome To The Show might just be the best anthology that Crystal Lake Publishing has ever published, and highlights just how much of a mark the publisher is making on the genre."

Now this is the type of review every publisher wants to see:

"In fact, this world is so rich, another anthology based on The Shantyman could be published that could add to the world created in this collection and it could be completely different. I would certainly be interested in reading more about the Shantyman. Once again, Crystal Lake Publishing has shown why it’s at the forefront of horror publishing." - Deborah Lee Singer

I already contacted some of you about this, but here's the big reveal for everyone else. Together with some of the Crystal Lake staff, I'm putting together the first of many annual daily planners aimed at authors and other creatives. We'll launch it in various formats, including hardcover, softcover, ring binder, color and black & white. The book will contain daily inspiration, writing exercises, weekly goals, time for reflection, and so much more. The cover art and interior artwork is by Ben Baldwin.

Also, if you're an author or deliver some kind of author service (editing, proofreading, artwork, eBook formatting, website, blog, newsletter, etc.), please contact me if you're interested in booking a quarter/half/full page ad.

If all goes well, we'll launch this project around early to mid September.

Cover reveal!

Out September 14th from Crystal Lake. Cover art by Ben Baldwin.

Damon Sharpe had in part found victory, he believed, in his battle to unearth a truth obscured by time. By autumn, he was dead, leaving to his wife Anne a house of unfulfilled wishes, remnants, and the key to the enigma of his obsession, the Mourner’s Cradle.

A journey through grief and peril delivers Anne Sharpe from her home in St. Charles to the faraway skeletons of a long-dead civilization where she will find the desperate answers she seeks…or die trying.
