Fall color is a sight to behold around Grandfather Mountain in October. The park is open every day of the year, weather permitting except Thanksgiving and Christmas day: http://vstnc.co/SQxJf

Adult tickets cost $20, Senior adult tickets cost $18 and Child tickets cost $9. Children under 4 get in free. We recommend arriving before 11 a.m. or after 3 p.m. during fall color weekends to avoid a rush.

The 4 stops on the Muscadine Heritage Wine Trail are conveniently located east of Raleigh along Interstates 95 and 40. The wineries are family-owned and -operated and have histories dating back to the mid-1700s: http://vstnc.co/RWTJv 

Some winery options are open seasonally, so please call ahead to be sure the vineyard will be open when you arrive.

The original Mast General Store is located in Valle Crucis on Highway 194, just inside Pisgah National Forest.

It's open to visitors Monday-Saturday 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sunday 12-6 p.m.

Fall color usually starts to reveal itself in mid-September and can last into November on the coast. Take a walk around William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, N.C. (shown): http://vstnc.co/SQznB

There are 20 miles of marked trails throughout 5,500 acres to explore. The park is open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m in September and October, and 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. in November. The main park gates are closed and locked promptly at closing.
