Vestas came out of the first quarter of the year, with a record-high order intake as well as the largest ever combined order backlog. While revenues dropped by 4% to EUR 1,464m compared to the same period last year, EBIT margin increased by 0.6 percentage points. Free cash flow was down quarter on quarter in line with expectations, on the back of an inventory build-up and an increase in net working capital. At the end of Q1 2016, the combined turbine and service order backlog amounted to EUR 18bn, a EUR 1.2bn increase over the fourth quarter last year.
